Technical Details
Red Hat GNUPro is the leading compiler/debugger toolsuite in use by software developers worldwide. Red Hat is the premier provider of GNU technologies, designed for both desktop application development environments and embedded systems. GNUPro is an open-source C and C++ toolsuite that contains the latest technology developed by expert Red Hat engineers with enhancements and extensions contributed by developers from around the world in the open source community.
When you buy GNUPro, you're getting the tools and features described below.
GNUPro Details
GNUPro includes a compiler suite made up of the GNUPro C compiler, the GNUPro C++ compiler, and a range of additional tools and utilities, including the GNU assembler (gas), GNU linker (ld) for most platforms, and binary utilities (binutils). The compilation technology in GNUPro toolsuite is based on the gcc project an open-source development project driving the leading edge in compiler technology.
GNUPro supports over 10 UNIX- and Windows-based development platforms and 25 embedded target architectures, ensuring platform flexibility for desktop application development and embedded development teams.
GNUPro Compiler Suite: GCC and G++
Red Hat GNUPro toolsuite provides the tools to generate fast, high quality code for a wide range of desktop and embedded applications. The compiler suite is tuned for a high degree of optimization on the front end, ensuring thorough optimization of your C and C++ applications. It's similarly tuned on the back end for a vast range of target microprocessors, the engines of today's leading edge embedded products and desktop systems. The GNUPro compiler suite is recognized as the first choice of most developers for its breadth of coverage, extensive language support, and high degree of optimization.
GNUPro Debugger: GDB and Insight
Red Hat GNUPro toolsuite provides the technology and tools for effective, efficient debug sessions. The standard command-line debugger, gdb, supports the same range of host systems and target microprocessors as gcc/g++. GDB allows the developer complete access to program state, including source and assembly level, variables, registers and memory. Online help facilitates the use of the broad range of features.
The Red Hat Insight graphical user interface adds a series of intuitive views into the debug process, and provides the developer with a wide range of system information.

Red Hat Robust Test & Release Process
The complete Red Hat GNUPro source base consists of approximately 2.6 million lines of source code. We've developed and maintain a comprehensive suite of automated tests that are run every night. During development and before each release, we run every one of our configurations through the test suite, analyze the results, and fix all problems discovered. And we maintain a continual quality metric to ensure each release is of higher quality than the last.
For desktop configurations, we maintain a collection of 20 different types of workstations, with at least one running each version of the OS we support. For embedded targets, we test against a collection of target boards - again, at least one for each chip we support. In both cases, the test process is completely automated. This testing process takes anywhere from one to 24 hours depending on the performance of the target system and the number of compiler options to be exercised.
Before any new versions are shipped, each major release and each standalone toolsuite of the tools undergoes over 200,000 test cases. Learn more about what's new in GNUPro Toolkit
