Easily migrate from native development to embedded

GNUPro Toolkit is fully featured to support the requirements of embedded developers utilizing high-level language calls in the C language. Red Hat provides embedded libraries supporting ANSI C. Different versions of GNUPro Toolkit can be used to easily and quickly migrate code from a native development environment to an embedded one, or from one embedded target to another. GNUPro 2001 supports a wide range of embedded architectures, including PowerPC, ARM and StrongARM and Xscale, and soon to come - embedded Pentium and Hitachi-SH.

Improved exception handling and extensive template support

Embedded developers can take advantage of extensive C++ language support, including improved exception handling and extensive template support. GNUPro 2001 incorporates SGI's strstream implementation.

  • enable-namespaces is on by default.
  • Configure and Makefile support for drop-in replacement to libstdc++-v2 completed. It is now possible to bootstrap G++, and have G++ find libstdc++-v3 headers and libraries by default.

  • Extractors and inserters for void* have been fixed.

Enhanced support for Windows developers

GNUPro for Windows-based desktops now includes a wider range of native Win32 calls and supports native toolchain recompilation for more efficient patch application.

Open Source

GNUPro Toolkit, like all Red Hat software, is published under an open source license. The GNUPro toolkit is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL); Red Hat ensures that source code is included with GNUPro Toolkit. This complete access to source code gives developers total control over the GNUPro Toolkit programs and is an important element of GNUPro support packages. GNUPro Support includes patch-level problem resolution, which is only possible when the software is provided in source-code format.

Other General Enhancements

  • Support to enable long long has been added.
  • autoconf macros are now in _GLIBCPP_ namespace.
  • Group checking for num_get implemented.
  • MT safe string; supported CPUs are Alpha, PowerPC, x86, SPARC32 and SPARC64.
  • Configure support for --enable-threads=posix, as well as initial IO locking implementation.
