Industry Performance Benchmarks for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Products
Red Hat Enterprise Linux has achieved outstanding industry-standard benchmark results, covering a range of configurations, architectures, and performance metrics. Benchmarks are generally performed with Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS, the common software core of all Red Hat Enterprise Linux products. This means the results can be used to assess capabilities across the entire product line.
ECperf Benchmark
The world-record price/performance ECperf benchmark available today (at $5/BBop) was achieved using Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS with Oracle 9iAS using HP ProLiant DL360 systems. Read the report here:
Note: ECperf is an industry-standard benchmark for J2EE application server and database systems. For information on the ECperf benchmark, refer to:

TPC Benchmark
Three leading Red Hat Enterprise Linux TPC benchmarks are available
today:
- TPC-C on X86 compatible systems:
This world-record benchmark was achieved using a cluster of eight, quad-CPU HP ProLiant DL580s, running Oracle 9i RAC and Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS. The database size was 17Tb, and the total hardware cost for this benchmark was approximately $2 million. The report for this benchmark can be found here:
- TPC-C on Intel Itanium 2 systems:
This benchmark was achieved using an HP Itanium 2 RX series system with 8 DL360G2 clients. The database was Oracle 10i running on 'Red Hat Linux Advanced Server for the Itanium Processor. The report for this benchmark can be found here:
- TPC-R on X86 compatible systems:
This benchmark was achieved using a Dell PowerEdge 6600 using Oracle 9i Database Enterprise Edition Release 2 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS. The report for this benchmark can be found here:
Note: The TPC defines transaction processing and database benchmarks and delivers trusted results to the industry. For the latest information on the TPC benchmark please refer to:
