Red Hat Enterprise Collaboration Management Solution

Red Hat Enterprise Collaboration Management (ECM) is a suite of web applications that help enterprise workers share knowledge and work together collaboratively in an easy-to-configure desktop workspace environment.

Red Hat ECM is ideal for teams who must work together asynchronously who are separated by time, distance, and/or function (that is, departments or divisions within an organization, e.g., sales, marketing, product development, customer service, HR, finance, and regional or overseas offices), and can be within one organization or across multiple organizations.

Technology & Experience

Red Hat ECM is the result of five years work on the challenge of enhancing collaboration and knowledge sharing within organizations. Customers like Siemens, Deutsche Post, The World Bank and others have recognized the value of the Red Hat solution and generated extraordinary ROI from the software (Siemens Case Study). ECM leverages the proven Red Hat Content and Collaboration Management (CCM) Core platform and Content Management System for exceptional functionality and flexibility.

Red Hat ECM draws upon Red Hat's strengths in content management, collaboration and knowledge management, allowing employees to more easily do their work, and in the process seamlessly create re-usable organizational knowledge that can be leveraged by other employees.

Increasing effectiveness. Red Hat ECM makes employees more effective both as individuals and as part of a team.

Individual effectiveness: Within their personal ECM workspace, individual employees can access tools that enhance their ability to store and share documents, presentations and general content; manage email; bookmark key content; manage tasks; and locate critical content and subject-area experts. Group effectiveness : Working as part of a team, individuals have access to all of the tools listed above plus access to a number of collaboration tools that include creating group workspaces; managing workflow of projects or documents; posting urgent requests for information; managing discussion forums, polls and surveys, and chat.

Increasing organizational knowledge and re-use: Through day-to-day use, ECM seamlessly captures large amounts of information that, as it is categorized, ranked, commented upon and linked to other information, becomes valuable organizational knowledge.

To maximize the value, every piece of content and knowledge item in the system can have specific user comments and ratings; be associated with user profiles, expertise and location; be tied to an incentive system to encourage contributions and use.

Red Hat Enterprise Collaboration Management Architecture: Red Hat ECM employs a three-tier architecture to cleanly separate presentation logic, application logic and persistent storage, and to improve maintainability and flexibility.

Utilizing the Java 2 Enterprise EditionTM (J2EETM) Platform, Red Hat ECM provides a robust and flexible infrastructure, a proven, reliable and scalable architecture, and a simplified approach to legacy integration.
